Availability: 100 in stock
  • All returns accepted: ReturnsNotAccepted
  • Volume: 3 oz.
  • Modified Item: No
  • Country/Region of Manufacture: United Kingdom
  • Color: Black transfer print on white ceramic background
  • Condition: Presents very nicely. I had a chip on the flange at about 10 o'clock, which only slightly encroached onto the border surround pattern professionally filled...otherwise good. The base section is matched up from my supply of spares and has a small damage on the foot rim (pic 10), which is not a big deal & still presents well, despite being ever so slightly loose...but nevertheless, very adequate for display purposes. Please check out all the pics and if you have any questions, please ask them prior to committing to buy. Thanks.

    "Russian Bear's Grease"
jar or "pot lid" as they are commonly referred to
. Big Bear image to the center of the lid face!  The lid measures 3 5/8" in diameter and complete jar, with lid in place stands almost 2" tall.
Super piece to add to a pot lid collection or a Bear ephemera collection!!
For any viewers who may not know what Bears grease was used for
:  In the Victorian era, it was believed that the grease from a bear carcass could stimulate hair growth and help prevent baldness. The idea being, that the dense fur of the bear would somehow be translated to stimulate hair growth in humans, when the grease was applied to the human cranium!!!
Back in the day, the grease was scraped off the fatty parts of the bear skin & carcass and mixed with various perfumes to make it more appealing. It was then marketed in these small lidded pots (and used extensively) as a men’s cosmetic.
