    Description

This little oval basket/bowl is in excellent condition. It came from an estate in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the 1970s. The owner kept match books in it. She collected the match books from hotels and restaurants, but she didn’t smoke. She had this basket the entire time I knew her, so it was old in the 1970s. She was 95 when she died, so I don’t know how long she had the basket. It is made of bunches of pine needles sewn together with heavy black twine. It measures approx. 5” long, 4.5” wide and 1.5” high. The lady told it was made by Native Americans, but I don’t remember the tribe. If anyone knows, please email me. I just put it on a shelf with all my other baskets, so it wouldn’t get damaged. I have taken close up pics of any areas of concern. There is only one place where the twine is broken and the rest looks pretty great.
