    We have cared for a colony of 25
    cats+++
    and rescued kitties for more than 16 years.  It is common these days for people to simply let their unwanted cats outside thinking they will care for themselves.  This is not true!   House cats intentionally placed outdoors have not developed the survival skills necessary to live outside.  Sometimes their cat develops unwanted behaviors because they weren't spayed or neutered so they let their cat out and guess what happens? The female becomes pregnant and the male locates every fertile female in the neighborhood! Then, more kittens! Some of the cats in this colony were once someone's beloved pet who was betrayed and left outside.  These special kitties were fortunate to form this colony yet every once in awhile another new cat comes to visit, or is dumped by others knowing these cats are well cared for, then stays.
    It is very expensive feeding and caring for so many so many cats.
    We also spend a lot of time building shelters and homes for them with large plastic or Rubbermaid(R) boxes, duct tape, insulation and straw. When we can financially, we purchase a larger cat or dog house so many cats can sleep together, sheltered from the rain and snow.
    During this past several brutal winters many of their houses were destroyed from several feet of heavy snow and fallen branches from surrounding trees.  We were fortunate that no kitties were harmed yet we needed to rebuild!  We replaced some houses with more to go.. Supplies are costly and add up over time.  One of our feeding stations was recently vandalized and needs to be replaced.
    The kitties are fed both moist, canned and dry food every day.  Vitamins and Lysine are added to their food to protect and support their immune system.
    We also n
    euter, spay, vaccinate/rabies, and microchip the cats for their health, well-being and safety
    . Veterinary care is expensive so you can only imagine paying for 25 kitties++!  Sometimes though, kittens are born as you can see from the photos, they are adorable and we are a "no-kill" rescue. After the mama cat cares for them for several weeks we try to find homes for them.  It is better for them to find a furever home at a young age rather than live outside so we find homes for the adoptable kitties after they are checked by our veterinarian.
    With all the rain we have had, kitties just can't get a break and may develop eye infections that require costly eye salve called terramycin.  Winter is especially roughin New Jersey and winter  feral care maintenance equally costly.
    I know it's tough for a lot of people out there economically.  The cats appreciate any support you can offer.   We also purchase cat food, vitamins, Brewers Yeast, and other cat supplies for them right here on eBay!  We also receive "eBay bucks" when items are purchased through eBay so the more donations we receive here, the more we can purchase for the cats through eBay.

    Freya's Cat Rescue
    is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill, cat rescue comprised of a group of dedicated, animal loving volunteers. Our primary focus is to care for a feral cat colony of strays, abandoned, and homeless cats and kittens. We spay, neuter, vaccinate and microchip the cats for their safety. We offer education about feral cat care and encourage new cat owners the importance of spaying/neutering pets for their health and to alleviate unwanted behaviors that may result in their future abandonment.
    Freya's Cat Rescue reserves the right to utilize giving towards where the cats need it most ie: food, shelter, medical care etc.
