-Details:
Wonderful antique coiled pictorial basket. Purchased at a small antique shop in Northern Arizona.
It measures 7.5" wide in diameter by .75” height.  It is not flat, the outer 1.25” edge curves slightly upward.  Coils are tightly wound but there are thin gaps between the coils; you can see when held up to light.  Please read condition details below.
-This is such a delightful example of a skillful artisan woven antique decorative butterfly basket!
Handmade baskets take many hours to prepare the natural materials and/or dye and to weave a tight design.  There were many different colors used to weave the detailed designs on this unique basket that now have a faded age patina (red, orange, yellow/beige, brown and black).
-Condition: Antique used condition; likely 100 years old (see photos for details). There are faded colors and it is not perfectly round or flat due to being a handmade item, age, and use.  There is a 4.5-inch area on the top front between outer coil four and five without fibers holding those two rows together (see photo).  I didn’t notice this for many years.
-Great gift for you or for someone else!  If you enjoy natural looking handwoven art, you will enjoy this special piece!  It would highlight any room at home or at the office and be perfect as shelf décor, as part of a Southwestern display, or a unique zero waste gift.
